    Political rant time part 2

How are we feeling now after details of the next budget are becoming clearer?
I would like to hear your views.
It helps me prepare for questions as a volunteer for trades hall.
    What is good?
    What is Bad?
For example here in Victoria the Tafe system has had its budget cut. As a tradesperson who knows about its value i worry about the younger people going through it now.
    What about you?

Apparently TAFE is having it's fees upped here in NSW as well (not sure if it's to do with state or federal gov). Not good for me since my course extends into next year.

A lot of what the media covers at the moment is stuff that COULD happen, but not 100% of it will.
Obviously Rod you have seen a few negative outcomes already.
While it isnt really announced, I am expecting HELP loans (my uni loan) to be privatised and I will start paying interest on it.

I know there are a few liberal-haters / labor-lovers, but it astounds me that the current government has to go to such length to compensate for the happy fun-time of stimulus packages and spending, only to have the misery blamed on them.
I prefer to not be short sighted by not saying 'look whos getting us into this mess', but rather asking 'why has such a difficult circumstance occurred'.

I couldn't agree more. There are so many short-sighted people who blame the current Government for all the issues etc.

Things take time, you can't fix / change the country overnight.

Apparently up in QLD we had the TAFE courses HELP/HECS or w/e loans cut last year. Turns out about only 50-75% of the actual fees are being covered by the government. One of my friends was doing the course - hes still doing it - but its just become harder to deal with it now though. Its hard knowing that in order to save the country, you have to risk its future.

I did have the usual "Labor/liberals suck, they got us into this mess" kind of thinking, but as Topcat has said, maybe we should be looking at how we got into this, so that we can know what NOT to do again. I really just feel that the government is taking away money from what matters, instead of what doesnt matter. Education and Health matters to this country, imo more than some of the spending on the military, or even on road/highway repairs. But at the end of the day, all that matters is the bottom line.

I think Liberals should just ♥♥♥♥ing remove centrelink, and dole-buglers suffer welcome to the real world mother♥♥♥♥ers, time to get an actual job.

But apart from that, half that you're a moron if you believe Abbott has all power, half these ideas won't go ahead, it's a political PARTY, not person.

They need to change centerlink so it just helps people get jobs and doesn't give them free money.

Yeah no one likes tax increases but it's something the government has to do. Labour put Australia in significant debt and now the liberals have to clean it all up. Just be thankful they aren't cutting funding completely for most of our public services (I know they are still cutting some)
The next 10 years or so might be harder on our pockets than usual (ill know soon cause I want to go to uni) but this is what happens when the labour government gets voted in. It was also shown in the Victorian government when labour was in for 3 terms and when hawker government was back whenever that was

some of the things that COULD happen to recover the budget, would have long term effects on the country if they go through, im not gonna pretend that this is all liberals fault but some of the things that could happen I think are ridiculous. Im mainly talking in regard to education costs and some of the proposed HECS/HELP debt changes. These would have a long term effect with interest being added, and the government covering of university costs 41% down for 54%(not 100% on those figures, read them in the paper today).

There are plenty of people on centrelink who would want to work but cannot due to injury or illness. So you think they should suffer because dole bludgers who can work but choose not to.

It's clear to see who is a dole bludger & who isn't. They should kick off dole bludgers. Which would cost more money for centrelink to actually do their job & keep track of everyone.

I am not really feeling you here mate, I would posite that we are not in the dire circumstances the government is leading you to believe.....I believe they are scaring the nation into thinking it is in a bad place, to justify the "neccessary measures" to get us to a "better place" quickly, when it does not need to happen that way, and they can then a short time later, abolish all these measures when they have ridden them out long enough just to say "hey look how good we are, we abolished XYZ and managed to do ABC........"

I agree. In the past i would have agreed less, but when there is a $12 billion spending on fighter jets... what the hell!?
I think things are bad but budgets need to be reprioritised.
Imagine if we only put $8 bill on planes, and then put $2 bil into healthcare and education respectively... or transport.
Regarding the abolishing part- both governments do that. Always have and always will.
But man... $12 bill on jets... I shake my head.
    Srsly...
Twelve BILLION dollars. How much is a single billion? Thats a crazy amount of money.
    Farout. Better supplemented elsewhere.

Yeah... $0 is the better outcome IMO. To date i am still baffled at the decision.
Lol can you imagine the campaign if he said it though?
If I am elected I am gonna spend $12 bil on jets. Cos I ♥♥♥♥ing love jets. Also stop the boats and acquire more jets.

Your kidding me right? Thousands of people are losing their jobs every week and it's getting harder and harder to find a jobs these days weather you have the experience, qualifications or not and it's becoming a lot harder for people to survive these days because prices for everything just keeps on going up. I get the fact that your against the dole bludgers that's fair enough but for the people out there that are actually trying to get a job these days there failing big time and it's only going to get a lot worse. ♥♥♥♥ abbott the stupid prick!

I'm sorry mate, but come down to Elizabeth in Adelaide, and all you'll see is a bunch of lazy British ♥♥♥♥s who keep complaining about foreigners taking their jobs, when in reality they don't want to find a job because they're couch potatoes sitting away with 6 kids earning 35,000 for doing absolutely, meanwhile all the foreigners who bust their asses of working are happy to work for less.

And then the middle class suffer away having to pay shitty taxes which goes straight to the goverments and dole bludgers pockets.

You can find a job if you look hard enough, local MaccyD's is always employing....

    Farout. Better supplemented elsewhere.
i very much agree with the fact, yeah sure we do need to update our jets, HOWEVER i do also agree with what you've said here tc, i think that he could've perhaps spent a shit ton less on the jets and maybe focus'ed on some more important things,

Have a read of this, tis quite interesting.http://www.vice.com/en_au/read/austr...ca-tells-it-to

if you cbf reading ill post one line which caught my attention more than others.
So before you question Australia’s need for 5th generation stealth fighter jets, understand the purchase was never really a debate about “if”, it was, “how many?” And the answer is up to one hundred.
