Dear fellow DtK Denizens,
Tis a rainy day in Sydney and most of the states are experiencing the rainy weather as well. Some of you are sick I wish you a speedy recovery ♥. To business - We are way past the half year mark and oh boy has it been an exciting first half or what?. We have had our share of ups and downs,some very sad farewells but DtK overall has been progressing very well and credit goes to ALL of you. Thank you all for you continued support and your ever increasing dedication to this community.DtK Membership has gone through the roof - almost 700 members and forum membership has almost doubled ~2400 members.We have a record number of 14 servers (Both existing CS:GO servers will be coming back online bigger and better in the next few days) and the number of servers DtK has will only continue to increase.
Onto the subject of this thread: DtK Rotation Server
What the hell is he talking about?
Going by the name do not confuse this with a map rotation server, this server will host a gametype for a certain period of time after which a new gametype will replace the previous one. e.g Week 1 Gametype - Scoutknivez, Week 2 Deathrun,week 3 Bhop so on. This server will have around 20 slots, all the usual DtK in house plugins
and no HLSTATSX. The interval at which the rotation occurs will not be fixed i.e Scoutknivez could run for 2 weeks, Deathrun for 3 weeks. This is simply because there are alot of factors involved in the setup and implementation of each type of server. A Scoutknivez server is fairly easy to setup,maintain and test but on the other hand making something like a War3Source server takes time to setup and finetune. Also different gametypes will have different time required to fully experience what all it has to offer - once again a Scoutknivez server has a simple concept but on the other hand players will need a fair amount of time to fully experience what a
experience points based server like a War3Source server has to offer in terms of Classes and items.
Why does DtK need a Rotation Server?
2 major reasons:
a. To keep things fresh and exciting for the community. Playing the same server over and over again can get boring and in some cases players simply lose interest in both the servers and the community. A rotation server ensures there is something new for our members and players each week/fortnight.
b.In the past when Council has made decisions on which new type of server to bring online, the decision has been for the large part influenced by what the community wants or based on what additions could make this community unique. However things do not always work out, what may look good on paper might not feel the same when implemented, as a result we have had servers die a few weeks after coming online. With a Rotation server however, members and players will be given an opportunity to experience the most requested gametypes before voting on DtK's next new server. So this is pretty much a test server for Council to collect data and use the information in making decision on all future new servers.
When will the rotation server go ONLINE?
Nominations will be open for a week or two after which Council will decide whether to go ahead with this or not.
How can YOU help?
Feedback,feedback and more feedback.After each rotation, a thread will be created to allow members to give their feedback on that specific server type.
How will this work?
Simple. YOU get to decide what goes on the server.Post your nomination(s) for servers in this thread and based on those nominations a server rotation will be established.Too easy
